I've created a brand-new Spotify playlist
Let's Get Out Of Here
is the artist's eclectic playlist featuring my single
Out Of Here
My song choices relate to the theme, lyrics & style of the track.
Get ready for the ride!
Yes, of course, my song is at the top of the list….
01. Out Of Here – Charleesa
Elara, Anakistinya & Karom are locked in ⛓ - 🗝 It's time to release them
And here are the reasons behind the rest of the songs:
02. Overwhelmed - Royal & the Serpent
This is a state of mind often experienced during the lockdowns of 2020 and beyond, due to the craziness in the world. Expressing the feelings behind Out Of Here, whether here is in your head, your home or what awaits once you get there on the outside.
03. Where the Dark Things Are – Kerli
Kerli is a unique artist who breaks boundaries in genres and styles. In this song, she sings about ruin, ravage, and being in the place where the spooky things hide. It correlates to the depth of darkness in the spaces that the characters in my songs are trying to escape from.
04. Down in the Darkness (Feat. Aika Zabala & Tom Hoy) - Jan Baars
Where you are when everything's too much, that dark place.
05. Out Of The Dark – Falco
Falco is a famous and internationally successful Austrian artist who mixed both English & German languages within his songs. This song tells his story of being in the depths of darkness, being ready to get into the light. Is it your higher self talking, your inner being calling or your mind chatter.
06. Runnin' – Elluna
Elluna is an intriguing artist who has been making music in various genres since she was very young. She's been collaborating with artists worldwide, and like me, has now transitioned to creating Pop music. With the title line, which also runs through my song, she sings about getting out of the circle of pushing away the skeletons from out of your way and moving on instead.
07. Like They Do on the TV – Kimbra
The opening lines to this song, mirror the lyrics to Out Of Here in so many ways.
'Find a place that keeps you safe, head down to the light of day
I've been looking far and wide, running from the fear inside
Just close your eyes and try, 'cause we are stronger now than our fathers, and we will find our way'
Doesn't it seem in the films and Netflix shows, that they always magically come right in the end? Finding their way out, just like they do on the TV.
There's hope and peace within the words and the music drifts throughout giving a sense of being carried and that everything's alright.
08. Till The Clouds Clear – Lamb
The Mancunian duo Lamb has had a big influence on me, I love the text and the way they make up their songs, you can read more about that in my blog The Artists who inspire me. Part 3.
https://charleesa.com/home/blog/7178006/the-artists-who-inspire-me-part-3
I relate the lyrics to feelings I had while making Out Of Here so it's perfect for this playlist.
'A storm brews inside and there's nowhere to hide' ‘What you gonna do when the storm takes over?’
09. It's All Happening Now – Portals
How it feels to finally break the locks. How it feels not to turn back. How it feels when it's finally happening & when you're on the road to where you want to go!
'Are you ready for the storm, this is what we've waited for!'
10. Crazy World – Ladyhawke
Ladyhawke is a similar artist to me because of the text she writes & how she sings her truth, more than the style of her music. When Out Of Here was created, it sure was a 'Crazy World' for all of us.
11. Handmade Heaven – Krystal Klear Remix – Marina
I love the 80s vibe in the music of this track and that's also present in my song, in fact, a listener and fellow artist said that Out Of Here Official Music Video takes her right back to the 80s.
The lyric 'I sit on my own' represents being in a Lockdown and the optimistic line 'bluebird flying' reminds me of 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' a land you heard of once in a lullaby.
12. Move in the Right Direction – Gossip
I love the energy of Gossip! Beth Ditto is the Queen of powerful delivery in a rock chick leather jacket. This song says, yes! I'm getting Out Of Here and I'm going in the right direction ;)
13. Just A Little – Circuit Shaker
'If I can conquer this my way, I'd devour I'd surround!'
This song is about hurt, healing, disappointment, resolution and being the sun.
14. Ace Of Hz – Ladytron
A team of two females producing driving Electro tunes. This one reminds me of songs from the 90s and a TV show called 'Life On Mars' which was set in the 70s and 80s, some of the songs in the soundtrack were similar. It's got an old-school ambience set in the synths and the vocal harmonies. I find the song title appealing as my card is the Ace Of Spades, and Hz are frequencies of music.
15. Free Woman – Rina Sawayama & Clarence Clarity Remix – Lady Gaga
There's a groove and danceable beat with this song that creates a feel-good factor and moves you to jump or stomp around singing 'yeahhhh I'm free'!
16. Vogue 2008 Live – Madonna
This was a similar song suggestion for Out Of Here
I've always loved this song, as a young girl I made dance shows to Madonna's songs.
You know how you feel when you've achieved something big, got that break or broken that lock…
it just feels, well like you wanna Vogue!
17. Hum Along And Dance (Gotta Get Down) – Janelle Monae
This has such a strong Michael Jackson's Bad vibe, right? Who's bad? Just dance!
How to get your head out of trouble or out of your head? Yeah, you just do that!
18. Stonewall – David Corbell
How to handle stuff like Lockdowns, let-downs, judgment and confrontation?
Get your 70s-era groove on and 'be a Stonewall' – not sure how? Just listen ;)
19. Hypnotised – Purple Disco Machine, Sophie and the Giants
These words describe what's behind and the motivation to get Out Of Here
'Feel buried alive, suffocated and lonely in the crowd
Screaming into space to drown them out…
Felt down so low, felt nowhere to go,
But I'm coming home, I'm coming back down tonight'
I also sang this song during the lockdowns in my live shows.
20. High Hopes Don Diablo Remix – Panic! At The Disco
My Mama did say 'Manifest destiny… light up your wildest dreams & don't give up'
So I've always had High Hopes and a vision! ;)
21. Go Wake Up – Parov Stelar, Lilja Bloom
Parov Stelar is one of Austria's most internationally successful living artists.
This song has an enlivening vibe that fits so well with that feeling of release.
22. H.S.K.T – Sylvan Esso
Another similar song suggestion, this is a groovy track that reminds me of my childhood, I often sing 'Head Shoulders Knees and Toes' with my son too.
23. feelingmyself – Lennie Squire
This forward-pushing groovy track is created by an independent artist, it's powerful and motivating. ‘Follow me follow me’ - it shows you the way.
24. Paper – Shungudzo
Ha ha, being an independent artist can sometimes feel like you're just chasing paper, followers, or your tail! It's nice to get back to the beats with this track, get your dancefloor stomp or wave on ;)
25. Nightrunner – Andreas Weisz, Max Doblhoff, Ngalah Oreyo, King Walter Koga
I just had to include the stunning new release from Andreas Weisz, the DJ, composer and producer of Out Of Here in this playlist. This collaborative track has got a groovy vibe of its own and I love the running theme that’s in our production too.
26. Crimewave – Crystal Castles, HEALTH
The story of this band resonated with me before I heard the song. The integration of the audio from the 80s game machine, Atari, called out to my inner child, reflecting the theme of the era within the music of my song. The repetition of the text also gives me the impression of being stuck in a mode, similar to Out Of Here and the overall theme.
27. Hustla – Teddybears, Ward 21
A reggaeton juicy groove, 'yeah I'm a Hustler baby and that's alright'
How do you hustle with the passion of your life's purpose?
28. Blessing In This House – Picard Brothers
'Out Of Here' was made during Lockdowns, hence the theme. This song reminds us to count our blessings, even when it's challenging.
29. Forgetter – Sophie Tukker Remix
The lyrics relate to the context of Out Of Here - the bouncing beats catch you.
30. Bollos – Ananda (AUT)
Another track that had to be in the list. Ananda is an excellent progressive trance producer from Austria. He’s also a fabulous rapper and we’ve even worked on one of my songs together. I love the magic, melody and electrifying energy of this latest creation.
When I asked what the meaning behind the text that’s spoken by the African shaman’s voice was, the explanation he gave seemed to be simply parallel to my song, and that’s why I’ve included it.
31. Out Of Here (Non-Functional Harmony Remix)
This brand-new electronic experimental, Tech-House interpretation of ‘Out of Here’ comes straight out of Berlin. Made by a friend & fellow English music maker who also remixed other songs of mine.
The track gives you a sense of escapism, releasing you from the week day world & launches you into the freedom of the weekend. It's sure to set your feet on fire & get you marching right into a bright new dawn leaving smoke trails behind you ;)
32. Future – Parov Stelar, James Deacon
This third to last song on the Let's Get Out Of Here playlist asks are we ready for the future and a life worth living when the world starts singing again.
I think that he's talking about life after Lockdowns, however, it can, like Out Of Here be relevant if you've got a lemon life that you want to turn into lemonade.
33. Children of the Sky (a Starfield song) – Imagine Dragons
This latest release from the Dragons about flying up high and finding the brightest sun invites us to remember that we are a part of everything! I chose this song to share their poignant message which leads to the vibration of my second single… coming out next year ;)
34. The Call - Ayla Nero
I love Ayla’s music, her lyrical meditations and her ethereal mantras.
I’ve chosen this song to close the playlist because of the beauty of her sound and the lyrics. It fits so well in this collection.
‘There in the deep unknown, there in the dark,
Send out a lifeline, and it becomes a spark
I’m ready I’m willing, Let go what I must loose,
I surrender, love leading, this I will choose
And it rises, and it rises inside,
And it calls us, calls us to life
And it burns, and it burns us awake,
As I welcome, as I welcome this change’
Will you answer the call of your inner being?
Stand up, step into the eye of the storm and rise up!
